2017-In the Beginning:
How can I get involved?
There will be several opportunities to be a part of the Visioning process. You can:
- Complete the on-line survey starting September 10th through October 16th.
- Participate to one of four public meetings that will be held in early November in the Town and in each of the Villages.
- Join small review meetings that will follow throughout the Valley to present the results of Community Voices to groups that might not have had an opportunity to participate.
You can choose to participate in one or all of these activities. Stay tuned. Announcements of dates and locations will be made through local papers, social media, and here on the TOGETHER website.
What is the Online Survey?
The purpose of the survey is to collect as many of your ideas as possible. The survey will ask questions about the Warwick Valley and questions specific to each village. It will also ask open-ended questions to collect ideas about how to make the Town and each of the Villages better. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
Where can I take the Survey?
The online survey will be available on the websites of TOGETHER, the Town, Villages, and other major organizations. Invitations will also be emailed to thousands of individuals and groups throughout the area. If you do not have access to the internet, paper ballots will be available at public libraries.
What happens after the Survey?
The results of the survey will be posted on the TOGETHER website for all to see. The ideas collected through the survey’s open-ended questions will be collated, organized into categories, and posted on the web. Your ideas will be used to identify preliminary shared community goals that will serve as the foundation of the TOGETHER vision.
What will the Community Voices Meetings be like?
The public meetings scheduled for November will review the results of the survey, suggest additions, identify what’s missing, and prioritize preliminary community goals. As you arrive, you will be seated at small tables and will meet your trained facilitator. You will use electronic keypads, small hand-held devices, that will register your responses to questions and instantaneously display the results on a screen.
How much time will it take to participate?
The survey will take 5 minutes to complete. The November public meetings will last two hours – a small amount of time for you to help shape the future of the Warwick Valley!
What happened next?
At the completion of the November meetings, TOGETHER Steering Committee members held small, informal meetings to present the results to groups of residents that may not have had an opportunity to participate previously (non-English speaking residents, for example).
After all this work, what is the Vision?
It was up to you to imagine what the Warwick Valley has the potential to achieve. TOGETHER has reflected your ideas and aspirations for the future.
On May 22, 2018 the results were presented to the Warwick Valley community in the form of the Vision Implementation and Plan report. The report is based on the consensus that you helped identify and the priorities that you set. It is as bold as you have envisioned it, detailed with specific, achievable tasks and recommendations on how to implement them.
Now, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get to it!
